Fr Frank’s Christmas Message

As we look back on 2025, our parish has much to be thankful for. Early in the year, replicas of the Shroud of Turin were placed in both St Kevin’s and St Kilian’s, and many in our community have found peace and inspiration praying before them. New street lighting was installed at the back of St Kevin’s Church, making the walkway to the schools and the Family Resource Centre safer during the darker months. A small piece of parish land beside the girls’ school is also being transferred to South Dublin County Council, which will allow further lighting to be added.

Sadly, the year has brought challenges too. The shocking attack on an Indian man in Kilnamanagh, along with other racist incidents in Dublin, left many in our neighbourhood unsettled. Canon Deverell and I visited the Indian community in Kingswood to offer support and to express our shared concern.

We were also blessed to secure a relic of the True Cross for St Kevin’s Church. A small shrine to house it will be built in the coming year, and any support towards the project is very welcome.

I wish everyone in Kilnamanagh and the wider Tallaght area a peaceful and hope-filled Christmas, and every blessing for 2026!

Fr Frank Drescher, Parish Priest of Kilnamanagh-Castleview

CHY3 Forms were distributed to 54 Households last week. These forms enable the Parish reclaim Tax refunds from the Revenue Commissioners for donations in excess of €250. To facilitate their return, a stamped envelope addressed to Fr. Frank was enclosed with the forms, but to date only 7 forms have been returned.
Can the recipients, EVEN IF YOU DON’T PAY INCOME TAX, please return the completed forms as a matter of urgency.

Department of Education Survey – Have your say

The current Department of Education survey on the future of patronage in the primary sector is important in that it will shape the discussion on primary school divesting for the years to come throughout the Republic of Ireland. The survey is school specific and needs to be responded to by all parents and prospective parents locally.
It is important that those who wish for a change in patronage would have their voice heard. It is equally important that those who wish for a Catholic education for their children, and the support for sacramental preparation available in Catholic schools, would have their voice heard also. For those reasons and to ensure that an accurate picture emerges, please participate in this survey if you are a parent or a prospective parent of a Primary school student.
The survey can be accessed at www.gov.ie/primaryschoolsurvey/. It closes on Tuesday, December 16.

The heart relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis, a saintly Italian teenager deeply devoted to Christ in the Holy Eucharist, visited our parish on Monday, the 27th of November. A Mass honouring him was celebrated in St Kevin’s Church, followed by a Liturgy of the Word in St Kilian’s. At both liturgies, there were opportunities to venerate the relic and receive a special blessing.
