While the government has allowed churches to reopen under the modified Level 3, this is a Special Concession. It is for the sole purpose of being able to celebrate Christmas. Only Mass is permitted, therefore anything else, such as Baptisms, cannot take place. Archbishop Martin has reiterated this point. The current situation will be under review in January and once we have clearance to remain open, dates for Baptism will be published then.

Information for Parents of Kilnamanagh and Castleview Parish
who wish to have their child baptised
October, November, December 2020:
The Covid-19 Pandemic has affected every aspect of our lives including the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. The Pandemic has given rise to continued uncertainty on all fronts. At this time it is not possible to follow the Stages we had in place leading to Baptism, namely: Information Meeting, Preparation Gathering and Welcome Ceremony. We now have to find new ways to proceed that respect the restrictions that Covid-19 imposes on us.
The plans we are now putting in place are meant to enable you to celebrate the Baptism of your child in a safe way in the context of Covid-19, e.g., no physical contact.
All our arrangements are, of course, subject to the Public Health Advice, Restrictions and Regulations that may be in force at a particular time.
These are the dates for Baptism for the remainder of this year 2020:
Baptisms will take place on Saturday at 3 pm –
In St Kevin’s: 24th October, 21st November, 12th December
In St Kilian’s: 31st October, 28th November, 19th December
The numbers allowed to attend will be limited, and will depend on circumstances at the time. Parents will be notified of numbers in advance.
Please keep in touch with the Parish Website for updates on all these matters: www.kilnamanaghcastleview.com
Step 1 is:
If you wish to have your child baptised in October, November, December, please contact the Parish Office Tel 4515570.

Since it is not possible to hold large meetings at this time, all the preparation for the Baptism of your child will be done on-line. You will be given the link for the preparation materials on the 1st day of the month. It is the responsibility of parents to follow the required preparation.
A word about Godparents:
One Sponsor (Godparent), male or female, is sufficient; but there may be no more than two (one male and one female).
Sponsors should be over sixteen years of age, be a Catholic who has been confirmed and should have a positive interest in, commitment to, and practice the Catholic Faith.
A Sponsor who is married must be married in accord with the laws of the Catholic Church.
Strengthen our child with the grace of Christ.
Watch over our child at every step of life’s journey.
